CYNDI HARVELL TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM
FROM THE ECHO ON OCT 12th
“One of the sweetest sopranos to come along in a while” –San Diego Troubadour
August XX, 2010- Cyndi Harvell is to release her new album, From The Echo, on October 12, 2010 via Fortune Records. Hailing from a small town in Georgia, singer-songwriter Cyndi Harvell has become a voice to be reckoned with. With her first album, The Night Turned to Song, Harvell toured the West Coast, receiving significant airplay on Americana stations across the globe and was a featured artist on Bay Area radio station KFOG’s Local Scene Compilation album. Harvell has also performed several key gigs such as; San Francisco’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, the Gilroy Garlic Festival, and shows at the Fillmore, Slim’s, and Cafe Du Nord, among many others.
Harvell’s band consists of Cyndi Harvell (Vocals, Guitar), John Howland (Weissenborn, Slide Guitar), Mike Stevens (Drums), and Andrew Gibson (Bass). After Harvell sold most of her belongings at a flea market in Georgia and made the move to the Bay Area, there was no turning back. She had embarked on her adventure to succeed. It was here that they were introduced to Jack Douglas, famous producer for the likes of Aerosmith, John Lennon, Patti Smith, the Who, etc. All of the sudden things were falling into place and what seemed like the scariest move of Harvell’s life had become one of the best decisions she had ever made.
The charming southern lilt in Harvell’s voice immediately draws you into her world and persuades you to look for the mystery within. Matched with Howland’s brilliance of weissenborn-style lap steel á la Ben Harper, the songs range from moody, dub-esque, acoustic to upbeat catchy pop that you do not want to miss out on! Similar to songwriters in the vein of Willie Nelson or Emmylou Harris, Harvell has a knack for subtle genre shifts, while always radiating that classic American flavor.
The new album, produced by Jim Greer, is about Escape. Falling. Rising. Soaring. The basic human desire to constantly change and evolve into something better, and the recipe is simple. Pure songs aching with honesty, a super talented band adding shine while allowing the songs to breathe, hooks and melodies to sink your teeth into and a voice like the creamy center of a tootsie pop. Yum!
