July 15, 2016 – Atlanta, GA – Sister rock ‘n’ roll duo Larkin Poe is proud to announce their official Newport Folk Festival shows. The band comprised of Rebecca and Megan Lovell will be playing the Newport Folk Festival Afterparty at Parlor Bar in Newport on Friday, July 22nd, as well as the Museum Stage on Sunday, July 24th.

This past spring, Larkin Poe released their critically acclaimed sophomore album RESKINNED. A fresh version of the original album, KIN, RESKINNED includes new re-mastered tracks as well as productions by Chris Seefried (Fitz and the Tantrums, Lana Del Rey), Justin Warfield (She Wants Revenge, Nico Vega) and Wax LTD (Muse, Bon Iver, Miley Cyrus, Maroon 5).
Prior to the release of RESKINNED, Larkin Poe performed the album’s lead single, “Trouble In Mind,” on CONAN. Watch here: http://bit.ly/1oFsajV. This past April, the duo was main support on Elvis Costello’s “Detour” Tour, plus they played a successful string of headline shows in cities like Washington DC, New York City, Philadelphia, Mobile and Atlanta. The band recently played their first stadium show, supporting Queen in Cologne, Germany on May 27th.
Larkin Poe is a sister duo comprised of Rebecca Lovell and Megan Lovell – descendants of tortured artist and creative genius, Edgar Allen Poe. At a young age, the girls were classically trained on violin and piano while being exposed to classic rock icons including Fleetwood Mac and Pink Floyd. Rebecca (lead singer) plays guitar, mandolin as well as violin and Megan (harmony vocals) contributes on slide guitar, lapsteel as well as dobro. After experimenting with an array of musical styles, they found a way to blend together a sound that channels their distinct voice.
The duo has previously hit the road as opening and backing bands for Conor Oberst, Kristian Bush (Sugarland), Dawes and Elvis Costello who praises that “they have a head start on the rest of us with the unique power and beauty of sibling harmony”. With years of domestic and international touring under their belts, and a large and loyal fan base already in place, the sisters want their fans to know that their new album RESKINNED is truly their coming of age project.
