Malia Grace

A rising singer/songwriter of soulful pop music, Malia Grace earned an invitation to play an official showcase at SXSW 2015 even before the release of her debut album. Malia Grace enjoyed early success winning an Austin songwriter of the year award (BeBobAlooza 2014) with songs from her upcoming eponymous album. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa with honors from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Music Business and Business Foundations, Malia Grace passed on grad school and options for a reliable paycheck to pursue her songwriting passion full-time. Credited by fellow musicians and mentors with an amazing ear for music and excellent pitch, Malia Grace attributes much of these gifts to efforts in overcoming what doctors thought to be profound hearing loss as an infant and toddler.

A successful crowd-funding campaign on Indiegogo exceeded its goal and helped Malia fund her upcoming debut album composed of her most frequently requested top 7-9 songs, already well received by Austin-area audiences. Malia’s songs, which she writes on piano and sometimes guitar, have been described as “pop songs for a wide audience – soulful, evocative” by longtime A&R rep and musician, Bruce Gardner. The songs’ themes include high-stakes romance, the hopes and dangers of love, as well as finding the strength to rise above life’s slings and arrows. Some of the album’s very relatable tracks drive audiences to the dance floor and others are perfect for relaxing over a late night drink.
